About Whiskey
Whiskey is distilled from malted grains which vary depending on style. Often contains mixtures of corn, rye, wheat and barley.
Whiskey is typically aged in charred oak, with some styles requiring the use of new barrels, some styles requiring the use of used barrels and some requiring the use of a mixture of new and used barrels. Moonshine is not aged. Some whiskeys can be blended while others are single malt.
Whiskey is produced worldwide.
Some styles of whiskey include Irish, Scotch, Bourbon, Rye and Tennessee.
The alcohol content of whiskey is typically 80 to 100 proof (40-50% alcohol/volume).
Whiskey is a more versatile cocktail base as it comes in a variety of styles. It mixes well with other liquors so it is used it can be used in complex drinks. It also pairs well with darker fruits.
